And On and On

In part 2 of this story, I told you about how Kate became the worship leader for Imagine Me Set Free. I left off with her desire to make some sort of CD for the women at the conference, and wondering how on earth that would happen. All we knew at that point was that if it was supposed to happen, it would.

At this time, Kate was not only getting ready to go on the road with Pat, she was nannying during the day, doing hair at night (she went to cosmetology school her first year out of high school), and leading worship at churches on Sunday and for other events. One event was a Youth Disciple Now weekend back in February. A couple of days before the event, one of the musicians had to cancel. Kate called a friend, who referred a couple of guys she could call for a replacement.

Thankfully, Will McKelvey (far right in photo) was willing to step in at the last minute and save the day. He ended up being an enormous help to Kate with leading the band that weekend. Over the weekend, he asked Kate some questions about her dreams and calling. She shared with him that she was praying about making a CD. At the end of the weekend, Will told Kate that he was working with a guy, doing some sound engineering and production. He had talked to him about Kate, and this guy wanted to talk to her. He asked if she’d be interested. Kate agreed to talk to him.

A few weeks later, Kate met with Jason Roy of Building 429 and Will. The meeting went well, so she asked her dad and me to go with her to talk over the business stuff with Jason. From there writing and recording times were scheduled. A couple of songs were co-written by the 3 of them – Saving One and You Are Able. Their own version of 3 cover songs were also placed on the EP (or just CD for most of us who don’t understand that lingo) – How Marvelous, Desert Song and Revelation Song. These are all songs that are being sung at the Imagine Me Set Free conferences.

Kate’s grandparents generously covered the expense of producing the CD, which was a huge blessing! Kate was also able to sell pre-orders at the last 2 conferences. We have been amazed by the generosity of these women. We want all of you who pre-ordered to know how much we appreciate it. All of the profits from the CD go directly back into the ministry so that Imagine Me Set Free can reach more women across the U.S.

I also appreciate all of you who have endured reading this whole thing over the past 3 days. We are looking forward to many more memorable moments in this exciting journey.

If you have been a part of Imagine Me… in North Carolina, Texas, or Colorado, we’d love for you to share about it here in the comments.
