Praying for a Community

by mcadesigns on February 6, 2010

This is my friend, Dedra, getting ready for Blissdom 2010 earlier in the week. I was sitting in a chair talking to her, and noticed that the light from the window was shining in on her face just right. She looked so beautiful and happy scouring over her workshops for the weekend. I knew that I needed to capture it. I knew that it would be my photo of the day.

I won’t go into all the when and where and how we met but I will tell you that it was a divine appointment. Dedra calls herself “Just a Chick” but she has been so much more than “just” anything in our friendship. She is one of the most thoughtful, generous, kind and loving friends I’ve ever had. I have prayed for a mentor for years. I believe God finally sent her to me.

While Dedra’s Blissdom weekend started out blissfully, she was notified of a tragedy in her community yesterday. Her blissful plans for the weekend have taken a turn back toward home where she has friends and family members in shock, devastated, hurting, and questioning why. Dedra has such a tender heart and dearly loves these people in her community. I want to do something to give back to her, as she is constantly pouring into my life. All I know to do from here is to pray for her – pray for them.

Will you join me in praying for Dedra, her family and friends, and her community?

Spoiled Brat

by mcadesigns on February 5, 2010

A couple of weeks ago, I pulled a load of towels out of the dryer, and went upstairs for about 2 minutes. I came back downstairs to find this:

Just in case you cannot clearly see how he’s stretched his body across the warm towels, here is another view:

It was really cold outside, and I suppose the basket of hot towels was paradise for this tiny pup (who has hardly any body fat). He laid in those towels for hours. I postponed folding them just so that he could fully enjoy their warmth. Now, whenever he seems to be cold or restless, I throw his bed into the dryer for just long enough to get it good and warm. This trick is guaranteed to make him one happy furbaby for at least an hour or two.

I know all this may seem a bit out there – over the top – extreme – for a dog. But with a face like this, I just cannot resist.

Is there anything that you do for your pet that is beyond necessary? Please tell me I’m not the only one…

365: P{otd} January Recap

February 1, 2010

I joined the Designer Digitals’ P{hoto} a Day group about a week or so into January. I typically take lots of photos anyway, so only a few days are missing. I was disappointed that I did not take a single photo on Cole’s actual birthday. I guess I took so many at his party the [...]

It’s Great to Be 8!

February 1, 2010

My photo of the day is my nephew celebrating his eighth birthday. He had his party at Laser Adventures. While I have some hilarious photos from the game (mostly of the big kids dads playing like their life depended on it), I wanted today’s focus to be on my nephew and the fact that [...]

Can’t imagine going back…

January 27, 2010

Can’t imagine going back to the old way of making coffee. I love my Keurig! It’s the best and fastest coffee maker I’ve ever owned. I received this appliance as a Christmas gift from my family. Who says that you shouldn’t give a woman an appliance as a gift?
I’ll share a website that I [...]

Another Birthday

January 26, 2010

This little guy had his 1st birthday on Saturday.
About this time last year, my son asked for a dog. He had never expressed any desire for a dog before. He had been content to have cats/kittens running around the house. Our daughter had a dog for 14 years, and the last few years with [...]

January 25, 2010

On this day, 11 years ago, my life was changed forever, once again. This time it was a boy – not just any boy, but a boy who is sweet, tender-hearted, dependable, responsible, generous and kind. This boy adores his daddy, loves learning from him and working on projects with him.

For his birthday, we renovated [...]
